Net One Systems Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Shinagawa-Ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Osamu Sawada; hereinafter, Net One) signed a distributor agreement with UTStarcom Japan K.K. [Note 1] (headquarters: Minato-Ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: James Lu; hereinafter UT Starcom) and will commence sales of UT Starcomfs device to inexpensively create GE-PON [Note 2] (Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network), the most up to date FTTH method. UT Starcomfs product allows CATV companies and access carriers to provide triple play [Note 3] communication services realizing data, video and IP telephony communications over one single optical fiber.
To provide secure and seamless telecommunication environment to network users in various geographical areas, Net One provides integrated customer support ranging from highly cost effective service infrastructure creation to providing service and operation based on the companyfs abundant experience and know-how and undertakes to expand services to telecom companies.
¡ Realize simple implementation of triple play and support competitive service provision
While the number of broadband users continues to increase, the number of FTTH users is likely to exceed the number of ADSL subscribers in the near future. FTTH that uses 1Gigabit per second broadband realizes high speed communication without lowering the effective speed irrespective of concurrent exchange of large volume of data by large number of users. In addition, with the availability of streaming video and IP telephony services, the number of end users recognizing the cost effectiveness of FTTH is likely to increase.
On the other hand, the number of subscribers to CATV, telecom companies specializing in particular geographical areas is on a rise. To strengthen the business foundation, in addition to increasing the speed of communication, provisions of attractive services such as triple play while curbing the infrastructure creation and operation cost for such service provisions are imperative.
UT Starcomfs product is a 1U chassis and supports 8 GE-PON links (up to 512 subscriber households). In addition, L2 switching feature and L3 routing feature included in the product decreases the number of interface required in upper network device for holding uplinks and further reduces the cost of FTTH creation.
