Feb. 7, 2005
Starting February 8, Net One Systems Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Shinagawa-Ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Osamu Sawada) commences sales of iPolicy Networks' comprehensive multi-function security appliance product line, the iPolicy series. This will be the first introduction of this product line to Japan market.
The iPolicy product is a comprehensive security appliance that seamlessly integrates multiple security applications including intrusion prevention, URL filtering and a layer 3 to layer 7 deep inspection firewall in addition to realizing virtualization with central management of all features.
iPolicy allows configuration of different security policies for various users and segments through definition of security domains and security profiles. Additionally, unlike many competing products, the performance of the iPolicy is not significantly affected by the number of multiple security policies configured or number of multiple applications enabled at the same time.
■The biggest challenge is operational management workload
In recent years, security problems including external attacks, intrusion attempts and information leaks have increased significantly and with the escalation of damages resulting from security breaches, adoption of extensive security measures has become vital for users. While there is a need to increase information management awareness within the organization, deployment and management of a detailed and accurate system that allows configuration of varying security levels based on departments within an organization or positions of personnel in addition to configuration of overall corporate security policy is in demand.
Operational managers face a difficult task setting optimal security policy on many point products while trying to enforce an integrated comprehensive and consistent policy for the organization. Furthermore, the increased complexity of security technologies that are being deployed on ever larger scales add to difficulty in troubleshooting, operational management and maintenance resulting in increased operational management cost and higher TCO.
Reducing the operational management workload and with it the cost of security is one of the biggest challenges modern enterprise face today. A comprehensive appliance product realizing security policy enforcement in a seamless manner has been long awaited.
■Introducing long-awaited high-performance comprehensive security appliance
The iPolicy appliances support up to eight categories of leading security applications at the same time and offer high performance on par with or better than individual point solution devices. More importantly, concurrent usage of multiple applications does not adversely affect the performance of iPolicy. iPolicy also offers highly flexible configuration options and easy operation.
iPolicy's unique single pass inspection engine architecture enables instant real time comprehensive response to an identified threat without any latency. Detection of a worm or intrusion attack by the intrusion detection and prevention function can trigger a choice of defenses: dropping the bad packet, temporarily isolating the infected system using the firewall, throttling down denial of service attack traffic or limiting number of attack connections etc.
iPolicy delivers optimal security service to multiple users with just a single device, thereby offering attractive cost-performance ratio to enterprises, telecommunications carriers, data centers, and other businesses with large number of users. A single iPolicy device can replace many single-function devices in data centers simplifying the network architecture while greatly reducing the installation and operational management cost. This helps the service provider in offering security as a value-add service at much lower cost.
