Net One Systems Enters into the Storage Market:
Portfolio Expansion for Network Solution Enhancement

-Commences Sales of 3PAR's Utility Storage Products to Bring About Storage Consolidation-

Net One Systems, Co., Ltd. (h.q., Tokyo, Shinagawa; President & CEO: Kazuo Sato; hereinafter, Net One) has entered into a distribution agreement with 3PARdata (h.q., California, US; hereinafter, 3PAR) (see the note at the bottom).
InServTM, 3PAR's Utility Storage product, embraces extraordinary features; needless to mention its ultra high performance/ capacity, yet another highlight of InServ is the comprehensive "Storage Consolidation" effect; just one system of InServ completely replaces the entire existing storage system, which is conventionally consisted of more than one subsytems; and its multi-tenant capability delivers one storage service shared by more than one customers or departments.
Net One has already supported an entire network infrastructure portfolio from core-backbone routing to apps infrastructure. The introduction of storage product will provide its "One-stop Solution" delivery with even higher value-addition for customers.

■ Storage Migration Toward IP:

There are good reasons for Net One's conviction in the coming demand surge for IP-based storage products. Net One positions content-related technologies as the decisive elements in the future networking market. Given that, storage technology is the crucial network infrastructure of tomorrow in delivering the efficient data sharing/ switching between apps, and therefore, is going to play a vital role in media content generating/ switching. IP-based storage is the most effective solution in delivering seamless data exchanges between disparate apps.
Net One has long recognized the immeasurable IP's potential, since the company's inception then no domestic competitors of today had paid attention to it. In building multimedia networks, Net One exploits advantages of the latest network computing technologies and leverages its own extensive IP know-how, including support service.

■ Multimedia Industry Awaited Storage Technology Has Come True

3PAR InServ provides high performance/ capacity utility storage, embracing 100 KIOPS maximum processing capability, 2.5 GB/s maximum throughput, 378.4 TB maximum disk capacity, and 192 fibre-channel ports support. Another distinctive advantage is its data virtual copy function; say, the capacity is enough for preserving hundreds of generations of snapshots per volume. It also allows instant and frequent data update to dramatically improve the data back-up efficiency. In addition, one device administrates, with easy installation and operation works, all operations from log monitoring to configurations of complex virtual volume or service differentiation for respective tenant.

  • Maximum transaction processing capacity is up to 100 KIOPS
  • Maximum throughput of 2.5 Giga Byte/ sec
(less than 5% of cache hit rate)
  • Maximum disk capacity of 378.4 Tera Byte
(when 147GB disk drive is in use)
  • Maximum of 192 fibre channel ports
  • Maximum of 64 Giga Byte of data cache
  • Maximum of 16 Giga Byte of control cache
  • Maximum of 28 Giga Byte/ sec of passive full-mesh backplane
  • Maximum of 8 nodes cluster architecture
  • Redundancy of all architecture allows automatic fail over for first level failure
    Supports RAID0, RAID10, RAID50
  • Single point of management allows easy creation of virtual volume and monitoring of usage status.

■ Commencement for orders

June 17, 2002
Shipment scheduled to commences concurrently for US and Japan market in August
