commences exclusive sales of First Virtual Communications Inc.'s rich media products, a SIP based system that employs simple Web based operation to enable flexible management of video conferencing.

Net One Systems (headquarters: Shinagawa-Ku, Tokyo: President & CEO: Kazuo Sato) have entered into an exclusive reseller contract for Japan territory with First Virtual Communications Inc. (hereinafter, FVC) (headquarters: California, USA) and will commence sales of FVC's rich media products from April 25, 2002.

FVC proposes the "Rich Media Communication" solution, leveraging its expertise in the multi-endpoints, real-time, interactive conferencing system. Their IP based system not only supports H.323, but also accommodates to SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), thus making the product highly scalable and flexible and allowing easy billing and user management.

The products accommodate conventional systems such as video conferencing and POTS, guaranteeing the continued usage of legacy data and applications. This highly flexible video conferencing service uses Web based GUI and caters to a variety of user needs.

By setting the FVC's rich media products as the "killer apps," Net One Systems is going to offer new network solutions to deliver visual communications. Net One Systems is ready to provide with best solutions to a broad spectrum of demand for the product ranging from corporate usage, to video conferencing services by ISPs and carriers as well as educational usage and services for personal use.

●The product supports both current industry standard as well as next generation standards. In the future, the product will also support MPEG-4.

TV conferencing system market is expected to expand on a global scale. The key elements for the TV conference system to be successful in the market that Net One Systems believes are: one is the ease in usage, in much the similar manner as using or operating telephones and TVs, and another is the implementation of synchronized interactive visual communications in the market. Unfortunately, the current H.323 standard based systems bear the problem of call processing time due to its complexity in control processing of each part system. Also, there remains the issue of low scalability.

Net One Systems believes that IP based SIP and MPEG-4 will best suit the market needs. Products that support SIP are steadily growing and we project that besides voice communications, they will be employed in fields of video communications, text chats, interactive games, and virtual reality.

FVC's rich media products are interactive communications system that supports H.323 as well as SIP and other industry standards. The product is highly scalable and while it conforms to the current network, easy feature enhancement allows the product to support innovative services and new businesses. The product ensures high return on investment. MPEG-4 Codec support is also scheduled.
