Net One Systems commences sales of Mirapoint messaging appliance products
Introducing high-speed message server achieving high performance and cost reduction

From October 25, 2001, Net One Systems Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-Ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Kazuo Sato) will commence sales of Mirapoint Inc. (Note) messaging appliance products. Mirapoint products are the only high-end messaging appliance product realizing high performance through high-speed message processing while reducing operation management cost. In addition to providing most appropriate mail environment for the customers, and deploying most efficient network integration, Net One Systems undertakes the next generation messaging solution through early adoption of the concept of Internet messaging.

■　Increased server workload and demand to reduce TCO

The augmenting dataflow have imposed greater workload for mail environment. Mail servers are significantly affected by the shift in data transmission from conventional text base data to attaching voice-data-video to mails. In addition to the demand for increased processing capability, employment of effective trouble shooting measures, increased security, and upgrading of mail environment for compliance with connection with cellular phones, network managers are under the strong pressure to cut the operational cost. As a new wave of messaging technology, in the United States, Unified Messaging System integrating voice, e-mail, and facsimile, to a single point messaging box accessible by PC, telephone, Web and mobile devices is materializing. Products offering a single point of management for various access means while promising TCO reduction is being developed.

■　Providing advanced messaging solution

With its high-speed mail processing feature, Mirapoint message server delivers high performance under high workload environment. The product ensures easy deployment, management, and scalability and offers multiple additional features including security, user authentication and filtering and contributes to TCO reduction. Even while outside the office, user may directly access his or her personal mail box through devices as i-mode, PDA or Web browser for a unified management of mail transmission while bypassing gateway intermediation and message forwarding process. Net One Systems' target market is large scale companies, telecommunications companies, government and related public offices, and school and other public institutions and will focus on the sales of Message Server M300, and M2500. Sales target for the next fiscal year is 1 billion yen.

■　Distinctive features

(1) Simplified operational management through turnkey solution

Turnkey operation system having pre-installed hardware, OS, and messaging application ensures easy deployment. System management is kept simple by eliminating extraneous functions from the OS and creating a unified systems management console. OS and messaging software may be downloaded via network to enable easy revision updating and version upgrading.

(2) Realizing high-speed processing

Equipped with operating system specializing in messaging environment, the product is capable of high speed message processing.

(3) System scalability

System allows for easy scalability through integrating three types of hardwares. By installing additional softwares, features may be added without acquiring new hardwares.

(4) Security measures

Shell access (shell command) is eliminated and OS is designed to be operated using specific port number using unique command. This inhibits system intrusion by attackers and enhances security. SSL/SSH encryption, Kerberos support, trusted IP address access, SMTP Relay control are included. Installing the optional anti-virus software further increases security.
