Net One Systems commences sales of new WDM series product, "FSP-II" that increases the transmission rate of fiber optic backbone by 32 times.
Overview
Net One Systems announced that it will commence sales of WDM (wave division multiplexer) product, "FSP-II" manufactured by German based company, ADVA AG Optical Networking (ADVA.) "FSP-II" is capable of increasing fiber optics bandwidth by up to 32 times.
Notable Features
"FSP-II" is capable of multiplexing one strand of optical fiber by up to 32 channels. Also, as it does not depend on protocols as Ethernet, Token ring, FDDI, ATM, they may be used simultaneously. The maximum speed for each channel is 2.5Gbps, each fiber is scalable up to 32 channels, and maximum distance between devices is up to 80km. The product ensures deployment of high speed and high bandwidth backbone.
Background
Due to IT revolution, high volume data transmission including digital streaming video has become common, network traffic experienced an explosive increase, and amongst users, there is a rising demand for low cost LAN enhancement and creation of high speed, high capacity network environment. Because ADVA's "FSP-II" requires only a minimal initial investment and allows usage of the existing fiber optics cable infrastructure (keeping the original transmission rate) while drastically increasing data transmission rate, it is most suitable for users with an outlook to create high speed optical fiber network environment. Potential clients include telecom carriers and ISPs (fiber lease, wave division lease), as well as enterprises, data centers, public / educational institutions, and SAN.
