Net One Systems constructs University Hospital Medical Information Network (UMIN), the largest-scale VPN system in Japan.

Net One Systems Co., Ltd. was awarded the contract for UMIN's VPN system. UMIN system, Japan's most extensive VPN network, makes use of reasonably priced public lines to connect 42 national university hospitals spread throughout Japan. Net One Systems will complete the construction of VPN system within the 1999 fiscal year (ending in March 2000.) As various confidential medical information will be transmitted, security is of upmost importance in UMIN. UMIN's VPN will be comprised of Contivity Extranet Switch (Nortel Networks,) the core product of VPN construction, electronic authentification software (Entrust) that manages all user information, and 128 bit encryption and public key cryptosystem that protect network from unauthorized access. Net One will continue to offer total solution and develop VPN that best suits the usage environment.
